Preventing Head Louse Infestation in Schools
Preventing head louse infestation in schools has been a headache for decades, as there hasn’t been a full proof way of doing this.Prevention means that schools should have extremely stringent hygiene standards; there should be frequent check ups and children found with lice should be simply sent home and asked to return when the lice are removed from the hair. Prevention also means that there is sufficient communication to parents regarding lice infestation and the best methods of getting rid of the parasites.
Although these practices are used in schools every day, it still hasn’t been enough to prevent head louse completely. And in reality, because there is no one way to catch head lice, there is no way to completely prevent the head louse from occurring, especially in schools where many children are exposed to each other day in and day out.
Preventing Head Louse Isn’t Easy
Preventing head louse is the best defense there is because it stops the problem before it starts. However, all said and done, preventing head louse is not an easy task. The best way to prevent infection and the spread of lice is through awareness. They say that knowledge sets you free, and this is an occasion where you can test the veracity of this saying.Preventing head louse through building awareness – people, most importantly parents, should understand that lice can be caught from any other children. The children should never be told that because they have lice, they are any less lovable, or loved. Children tend to take the blame for whatever happens around them, so be careful that your behavior (as a parent) does not demoralize the child because of the lice problem.
Preventing head louse through extreme physical hygiene – besides a mandatory daily bath, children should be carefully groomed every day. This includes washing their hair regularly, and keeping nails trimmed. A carefully inspection for lice on a regular basis is important, as your responsibility as a parent is to make sure you don’t expose other children to the head lice if you find your child has them.
Preventing head louse with specific medication – there are sufficient anti-lice solutions that you could use to lice-proof your child’s hair. Among all the things available, you should choose the product that is most cost effective and efficient for you and your family.
Preventing head louse with short hair – it is advocated that children in the younger bracket (3-12 years of age) can prevent lice better with shorter hair. This will also help to mobilize the lice immediately, in case the child is suffering from lice. Once they reach the age of twelve, and the danger of lice has lessoned, shorter hair is not as important.
