Killing Head Louse – Will the Lice Ever be Gone?

You find you are under the attack of lice and it can be quite shocking, not to mention highly irritating and embarrassing because your head keeps itching at the most inopportune time. Usually the itching starts from the back of the head, and moves within a few days to areas throughout the head. The female louse is capable of laying about 50 eggs per day, and it can produce a formidable breed in just a few weeks.

How to Recognize the Signs

If you are an adult who is affected by lice infestation, you will experience the following:

An initial slight itching at the back of the head which will stay persistent even if you shampoo your hair every day.

You tend to get sudden mosquito bite feelings in the hair, but when you scratch you do not find anything.

You get the impression that something is constantly crawling in your hair. This feeling comes again and again totally distracting you from whatever you do.

You notice little white spots in your hair, particularly behind the ear and at the nape of the neck. These, you will find, are the nits from where a new batch of lice will be born.

You develop little red spots around the forehead, at the nape of the neck and around the cheeks where the lice would come out and bite from time to time.

Killing Head Louse is Easy, But do They Stay Away?

There are a hundred-and-one solutions that are available on the market, both herbal and chemical and are used and recommended for killing head louse. Now, it remains for you to choose how you want to eliminate this parasite from your hair. While doing so however, you should keep in mind one very important thing.

The lice die (many times easily) when the treatment for killing head louse is applied to the hair. However, the eggs do not die. Often eggs survive the onslaught of whatever solution you use to eliminate these bugs.

Baby lice come from the eggs which are almost microscopic and very difficult to spot with the naked eye. You will know you still have lice because your head (particularly at the back) will still scratch a lot and you will feel the burning itchiness of their bite. This is when you will start wondering whether you can really kill head lice.

Depending upon the number of the eggs the female louse laid in the hair, you might have a new crop of lice every week, or even every day. The treatment for killing head louse should include using a lice comb to rid of all the lice eggs after treating the live lice. This will ensure your treatment works.
