You Will Need to Kill Nits in Order to fully get rid of Lice

Head lice can easily be considered as one of the most annoying health problems, as not only is it incredibly irritating but completely embarrassing as well. Head lice most often takes place through school, and so if you have any children that go to school you will want to check them regularly in order to make sure that they have not gotten it and so they will not spread it to the rest of the household.

How do the Lice Spread?

Human lice, like animal lice, spread through direct contact, from person to person. When people who have lice interact closely to people that do not, the lice navigate from one head to the other. Sometimes, they fall onto the other person’s clothes, while sometimes they just literally jump from one head to another, when the head is close enough.

The female louse is known to lay 50-60 nits per day, and this can obviously then make a huge brood in just a few days. The problem with nits is they are not always as susceptible to the medications that kill lice. Therefore, in order to completely get rid of lice, you will need to kill nits first.

Kill Nits: It is one of the Most Important Factors

Take for one the fact that once the medicated shampoo is added to the hair, lice are dead in no time, and then these dead lice can be collected with the help of a lice comb which will completely clear the hair of it. However, the fact remains that nits are not necessarily all affected by this solution, and so this means you will have to take further measures in order to kill nits and get rid of lice completely.

Most people, after treatment will tend to relax and will not actively check out whether lice are there any longer. This gives sufficient time for baby lice or nymphs to hatch and mature in a person’s hair, and then they in turn will lay their own eggs before they are caught and removed from their environment. These new nits will continue the never-ending cycle.

Hence, killing the lice really does not solve the problem, but killing the nits does. Now, the question arises how to effectively kill nits in the shortest time available. Out of all the methods available only one or two seem to attack nits and those are the petroleum jelly and the Neem paste methods. People who apply petroleum jelly overnight find that it kills nits as it kills the lice. Repeating this process for 3-4 consecutive days ensure that you can kill nits properly.
